Relative pronouns are words like who, which, that and where. We use them to introduce relative clauses. Relative clauses give extra information about something without starting another sentence. For example,

I met a girl who was very friendly.

The girl that I met was very friendly.

We use who for people.

I have a friend who likes skiing.

We use which for things.

I’ve got a new car which is very fast.

We use that for people and things.

I have a brother that likes tennis.

We use where for places.

I live in a country where the sun shines all year.
