The Future Continuous is used to describe an action that will be happening at some time in the future. We use the Future Continuous to talk about future plans and to describe future actions that are in progress at a specific time.

How to form the Future Continuous

The Future Continuous is made up of the following parts:

  • the infinitive of to be (I will be, you will be, he/she/it will be, we will be, they will be)
  • the present participle of the main verb (running, swimming, laughing, etc.)

Here are some examples of the Future Continuous:

  • I will be working at 8 o’clock tonight.
  • They will be having dinner at a nice restaurant.
  • We will not be watching television tomorrow evening.
  • What will you be doing at this time tomorrow?

When to use the Future Continuous

There are several situations when we use the Future Continuous. Here are some of them:

  • to describe an action that will be happening at some time in the future
  • to talk about future plans
  • to describe future actions that are in progress at a specific time

The Future Continuous and the Future Perfect

The Future Continuous can be used together with the Future Perfect to express an action that will be in progress up to a certain time in the future. For example:

  • I will be working on my project until 5 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
  • We will be having a meeting at 3 o’clock.
  • She will be cooking dinner when her husband comes home.

The Future Continuous is also used to express an action that will be happening around a certain time in the future. For example:

  • I will be working on my project at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
  • We will be having a meeting sometime next week.
  • She will be cooking dinner when her husband comes home.

Future Continuous Tense: We use the Future Continuous Tense to talk about something that will be happening at a specific time in the future. We use the Future Continuous Tense to talk about an event that will be in progress at a particular time in the future.
