The comparative is used to compare two things and the superlative is used to compare three or more things. When we use the comparative, we use «er» for shorter words and «more» for longer words. For example:
Short words:
I am taller than she is. He is faster than me. This book is cheaper than that one.
Long words:
I am more intelligent than she is. He is more handsome than me. This book is more interesting than that one.
When we use the superlative, we use «est» for shorter words and «most» for longer words. For example:

I am the tallest. He is the fastest. This is the cheapest.
